The foundation of the eLab is its statutes | statutes. The currently valid version is from May 4, 2023.

Anyone who accepts the laboratory rules of the eLab can become a member. Members can be authorized and can be elected to the board.

Members can become authorized persons in the eLab if this is decided at a meeting or general assembly and then approved by the patron Dr. Bernd Klose. Authorized persons are more involved in the organization of the eLab and can, for example, offer workshops. Authorized persons can offer opening hours in the eLab and take supervision during these times. For this purpose, authorized persons receive a key to the eLab. Planned opening hours are announced by the authorized persons via the https://elab-siegen.de. However, spontaneous opening of the lab is also possible. The current opening status of the eLab is announced via the door sign, the website, and a Telegram bot.

The board of the eLab is elected at a general assembly held at least annually by the members of the eLab with a 2/3 majority and can consist of 3, 5, or 7 members.

The following positions must be taken by the board members:

• Speaker
• Financial Officer
• Treasurer
• Safety Officer
• Each position can have a deputy appointed.

The Speaker convenes meetings and general assemblies in accordance with the statutes and leads the discussions.

The Financial Officer conducts the ongoing business of the initiative according to the budget plan and gives payment instructions to the Treasurer. The Financial Officer has veto power in financial decisions and prepares the budget plan for the next fiscal year.

The Treasurer executes the payment instructions of the Financial Officer and also manages the money for manufacturing, components, and catering.

The Safety Officer is responsible for safety training and manages the list of participants for the annually required safety training for independent work in the eLab. Furthermore, the Safety Officer manages access permissions/keys to the eLab.

The assemblies of the eLab are the general assembly and the meeting.
